Introduction to Long Term Care and Support Services Management in New Brunswick

This course is funded under the New Brunswick Nursing Home Learning Campus with free tuition for all support service managers working in leadership roles in New Brunswick nursing homes.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This introductory course is designed for managers of support service departments to introduce the long-term care system in New Brunswick and principles of supervision, leadership, human resource management and staff engagement. 

  • Designed for support service managers or supervisors in nursing home settings including food service, recreation and activities, housekeeping, laundry and environmental service. 
  • This intensive online course is done online in a group 
  • The content is divided into discovery units that explore key skills and includes practical homework each week that involves skill translation through practical application. 

Course Format and Dates: 

  • Classes are taught online using Zoom video conferencing, class may be recorded for participants if they are unable to attend.
  • Classes are held weekly 
  • Classes begin April 15th, 2025

Course Expectations: 

All participants are required to sign a confidentiality agreement before the first class to ensure that any discussions that occur in class are kept confidential. This allows participants to speak freely and share any current concerns or issues in a supportive environment. It is expected that participants make every effort to be in class each week. Virtual recordings will be provided if a participant is absent, but this is discouraged as the classes are very interactive. The link for web recordings will be valid for 7 days

Course Grading/Completion: 

Participants are required to attend class and complete the homework assignments to be given a credit for the course. The course is a pass/fail grading format and support from the instructor is provided to encourage student success.
