Rehabilitation Series Recap: Strategies for Personal Care with Amy McNair and Ricky Cote
On May 13th, 2025, Beacon Clinical Group was pleased to present “Strategies for Personal Care: Empowering Nursing Home Staff to Deliver Exceptional Resident Care,” led by Occupational Therapist Amy McNair.
This session provided practical, compassionate strategies to support residents with activities of daily living in long-term care settings. Amy guided participants through approaches that promote dignity, independence, and comfort—especially for residents with cognitive, sensory, or mobility challenges. The focus was on empowering care staff with tools to adapt routines, communicate effectively, and engage residents meaningfully.
With over two decades of experience, Amy brings deep knowledge of long-term care and a collaborative, person-centred approach to everything she teaches. Her work as an OT emphasizes not just functional improvement, but also emotional well-being and resident autonomy.
To ensure accessibility for French-speaking staff across the province, a French-language version of this session was presented on May 29th, 2025, by Ricky Cote.
