LPN Rehabilitation Course

  • Course Objectives: 

To provide advanced competency training to bridge the entry level competencies of Licensed Practical Nurse to the fulfill the role of LPN Rehabilitation Assistant in long term care facilities in New Brunswick. This role involves understanding and collaborating with the following specialties to optimize functioning for the resident of the nursing home:

  • Speech Language Pathology (swallowing and communication referral requests)
  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Audiology
  • Dietician (including nutrition and adaptive aids)

Course Format:

  • Theory Portion: Delivered online by independent study with prepared course materials, videos and assignments  
  • Preceptorship:  Supervised preceptorship with mentors working the role currently. Listing of possible preceptorship sites will be provided, students to contact preceptors and make own arrangements for hours
  • Students have six months from the beginning of the course to complete online theory and preceptorship hours (extenuating circumstances will be considered individually if an extension is required for this timeframe)

Course Registration and Fees:

  • Registration is open to all active NB LPN’s in good standing with ANBLPN
  • Cost is $1295 and is payable before the start of the course
  • Certification is issued upon successful completion of both theory and preceptorship portions
  • Complete the attached registration form and submit payment to confirm placement in the next course offering in the Fall of 2023
