My Other Bag is a Gucci: Ostomy Tips and Tricks [English and French]

Wound Care Education Spotlight: Ostomy Tips and Tricks with Nancy Schuttenbeld and Nathalie Godin

On May 7th, 2025, the New Brunswick Nursing Home Learning Campus (powered by Beacon Clinical Group) hosted another insightful session in our Wound Care Series titled “My Other Bag is a Gucci: Ostomy Tips and Tricks,” presented by the ever-popular Nancy Schuttenbeld, RN, MN, NSWOC (c).

With her trademark clarity and humour, Nancy offered practical, person-centred tips for supporting residents living with ostomies in long-term care. The session covered product options, troubleshooting common issues, and strategies for promoting comfort, dignity, and independence. Participants left with real-world tools to improve care and confidence in ostomy management.

Nancy brings over three decades of experience to her sessions. As a Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Care, she provides consultation and support across hospitals and long-term care homes in Area 3, New Brunswick. She’s also the founder of Skin Wellness RN and a respected national educator in wound and ostomy care.

To ensure accessibility for francophone staff, a French-language version of this session was presented on May 14th, 2025 by Nathalie Godin, RN, NSWOCC.
