Wound Care Education Spotlight: Palliative and Chronic Wounds in Long-Term Care with Nancy Schuttenbeld and Nathalie Godin
On April 2nd, 2025, the New Brunswick Nursing Home Learning Campus (powered by Beacon Clinical Group) welcomed back Nancy Schuttenbeld, RN, MN, NSWOC (c), for another important session in our Wound Care Series: “Beyond the Bedsore! Palliative and Chronic Wounds in Long-Term Care Settings.”
In this session, Nancy expanded the conversation beyond pressure injuries to explore the complexity of wound care in palliative and chronic conditions. She covered practical assessment and management strategies, discussed product selection and comfort-focused care, and highlighted how to support quality of life for residents facing long-term or end-of-life health challenges.
With over 33 years of nursing experience, Nancy brings deep expertise and compassion to her teaching. She has served as a Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Care for over a decade and currently provides consultation across six hospitals and long-term care facilities in Area 3, New Brunswick. Nancy is also the founder of Skin Wellness RN and a member of the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel.
To ensure full accessibility, a French-language version of this webinar was held on April 9th, 2025, and presented by Nathalie Godin, RN, NSWOCC.
Nathalie is a seasoned nurse specializing in wound, ostomy, and continence care, with a 25-year background in oncology and a strong passion for patient advocacy and education. A respected speaker and mentor, she brings clarity, compassion, and practical insight to every session she leads.
