Clinical Education Recap: Adverse Events in Long-Term Care with Odette Comeau Lavoie
On April 16th, 2025, New Brunswick Nursing Home Learning Campus (powered by Beacon Clinical Group) hosted a practical and timely session: “Adverse Events in Long-Term Care: Completing an Adverse Event Report”, led by experienced nurse consultant Odette Comeau Lavoie, RN, MEd. This webinar was delivered in both English and French to support care teams across the province.
This session offered clear guidance for long-term care staff on how to complete adverse event reports accurately and efficiently. Odette walked participants through the importance of thorough documentation, how reporting fits into broader quality and safety initiatives, and key considerations when responding to incidents in a care setting. Attendees left with a better understanding of their role in fostering a transparent, learning-based safety culture.
About the Presenter
Odette Comeau Lavoie is a seasoned Registered Nurse with decades of experience in public health, nursing regulation, and healthcare policy. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Université de Moncton and later completed a Master’s in Adult Education at St. Francis Xavier University.
Her career has included 16 years in public health, 12 years as a regulatory consultant with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick, and four years as Principal Nursing Advisor with the Department of Health. Today, she continues to support the long-term care sector as a bilingual nursing consultant with Beacon Clinical Group.
