Long Term Care Clinical Shift Supervisor Training

Course Overview:
This foundational course two-day online training provides direction to clinical shift supervisors in long term care settings. This intensive online course is done a small group setting with one facilitator.

Target Audience:

  • Shift supervisors in long term care
    • Charge nurse roles and shift supervisors in long term care settings
    • Information is targeted to staff who have supervisory duties in their daily workload but do not hold a formal senior leadership position (participants have the unique challenge of supervising their peers and completing their own workload)
  • Students may either currently hold a supervisory role or wish to transition into a supervisory role in the near future

Course Expectations:
All participants are required to sign a confidentiality agreement before the first class to ensure that any discussions that occur in class are kept confidential. This allows participants to speak freely and share any current concerns or issues in a supportive environment. Attendance is expected for the entirety of the course and video recordings of missed content are only available in the event of illness.

Course Format:

  • Classes are taught online using Zoom video conferencing over 2 days
  • Workshop is offered three times this summer 2023, choose from one of the following:
    • June Workshop: June 8 th and 22 nd from 9am to 3pm
    • July Workshop: July 18 and 19 th from 9am to 3pm
    • August Workshop: August 22 nd and 29 th from 9am to 3pm

Course Grading/Completion:
Participants are required to attend class and complete the homework assignments to be given a credit for the course. The course is a pass/fail grading format and support from the instructor is provided to encourage student success. Upon successful completion of this course, students are awarded the certificate of “Long Term Care Shift Supervisor Course”. This course can be credited towards greater certifications within Beacon Clinical Group, including the Leadership in Person Centered Care credential.

Course Registration and Fees:

  • Tuition is $595 plus HST and payable before beginning the course. There are no refunds on tuition once registered, but employers may substitute another staff member to attend for the session.

Note: Some reimbursement may be possible under funding from your province. In New Brunswick, this includes possible funding from the Department of Post Secondary Education Training and Labour under the Work Force Training program. Beacon Clinical Group can provide direction to apply for this funding, but the reimbursement and application process is done independently of Beacon Clinical Group by the applicant or their employer.
